Reserve Force Medal

Design The RFM is an oval cupro-nickel medal, 36 mm wide and 44 mm high, ensigned with the Crown of St Edward in cupro-nickel, surmounted by the Joint Service Emblem on a rayed background on the obverse. The reverse is inscribed ‘FOR EFFICIENT SERVICE IN THE RESERVE FORCES’. The medal has a narrow cupro-nickel integral suspension bar. Ribbon The RFM ribbon is 32 mm wide, azure blue edged with narrow gold bands. These were Australia’s national colours at the time of introduction. Clasps The award of a clasp to the RFM is denoted by a cupro-nickel bar surmounted by the Royal Cypher flanked by sprigs of wattle. When the ribbon is worn alone, the award of a clasp is indicated by a ribbon bar emblem in the form of an oval cupro-nickel rosette or a cupro-nickel Federation Star. A total of four emblems can be worn on the ribbon. The first four clasps to the Medal are indicated by rosettes. The fifth clasp is indicated by a single cupro-nickel Federation Star and subsequent clasps are indicated by additional Federation Stars Order of Wear Is below the Reserve Force Decoration.
