Robert R, a valiant soldier who served during World War I, enlisted in the Australian Imperial Forces on 8 March 1916 and embarked for Europe shortly after. His service was multifaceted, including roles as a sniper and stretcher bearer with the 19/15th Battalion, the 4/49th Battalion, and the 25th Battalion. Following wounds received in action, he recuperated in England and underwent training as a machine gunner for the newly formed No. 2 MG Battalion. In November 1919, Robert returned to Australia and was honorably discharged in December 1919.
To commemorate his remarkable service, we had the privilege of crafting a medal box from Huon Pine and Myrtle. This special box houses his British War Medal 1914-1920, the Victory Medal, various hat badges and pins, dog tags, and a 7cm piece of shrapnel that was removed from his arm. It stands as a lasting tribute to his courage and dedication to our nation. |
Commissioned with heartfelt intent, we created a resting box for a cherished grandmother, akin to our mid-sized medal box, expertly crafted from Huon Pine and Myrtle. The design featured a spacious false bottom to cradle her ashes, along with a thoughtful tray atop the box for treasured keepsakes. We added a special lock and key mechanism for security and personalized the box with engraved details. The customer's reaction upon receiving the urn was one of overwhelming joy and satisfaction.

We were asked for some rustic character, and we believe we achieved this in spades. This Huon Pine box boasts plenty of live edge, complete with some orange spray paint from the mill, and the Myrtle lid center has a bit of figure in it. It makes for an outstanding home for this submariner’s medals and embellishments and will be the centerpiece on the mantle for many years to come. It is without a doubt one of the best boxes we have ever done.

A box for Jodie's great-granduncle Eric, who was killed in action in France in 1918. This Series II Medal Box was crafted to store Eric's medals, which are held by his nephew. Due to the extensive engraving, we included his citation for the Military Medal and details of his burial in France under the tray.

This custom-made Series II box has been designed to accommodate the cherished memorabilia of a father and daughter. The oversize design was created to fit the father's paperwork and books from service in the 2nd Australian Imperial Force (AIF) during World War II. Additionally, the box serves as a time capsule for the daughter's treasured items from her service in the Women's Royal Australian Air Force (WRAAF) and the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
