David and Jodie
We are an Australian veteran family and each have served in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) for 12 and 17 years respectively. David's father Glenn, who served 21 years in the RAAF, was doing wood working in his retirement and crafting with a CNC machine. David saw an opportunity to turn his father's retirement hobby into a business and wanted to make high quality personalised medal boxes for current and ex-serving Military and Emergency Service members. We have now made the move to Hobart, Tasmania to operate our business full time and are continuing to expand what we can offer to the Australian community. Ironbark Works
The name Ironbark Works is inspired by Glenn's father Mick, a WWII veteran who served for 33 years in the RAAF, and his ability and proclivity to perfectly recite the entire Banjo Paterson poem, The Man From Ironbark, after a couple of beers. Ironbark (Eucalyptus) being a species of wood seemed very fitting and having a business name inspired by our own military heritage is truly an honour. We operate our business from our workshop on our 5 acre property in outside Hobart. Working from home is a true blessing, it's even worth the expensive insurance. If you do want to see our work in person you can come and visit us at the Deloraine Craft Fair in November. ABN 15512428275 |
