Further reading In 1993, the Government established the Vietnam Logistic and Support Medal (VLSM) for personnel who had served in Vietnam for short periods of time in support of Australian operations and had not received any recognition for that service. Design The VLSM is a cupro-nickel medal, 36 mm in diameter with a straight suspender bar. The obverse and reverse are the same design as the VM. Ribbon The VLSM ribbon has a wide central stripe stylised to represent the RVN flag (three central pin-stripes of red on a yellow background), flanked by narrow stripes of dark blue, brown, red and light blue. The design represents the service of the Australian Army, Air Force and Navy in Vietnam, and the brown represents the colours of coastal and inland waterways of Vietnam. Order of Wear Is below the General Service Medal 1962. And above the Australian Active Service Medal. A person who has been awarded the Vietnam Medal, or who is eligible for the award of the Vietnam Medal, is not eligible for the award of the Vietnam Logistic and Support Medal. These medals are of equal status. Further information can be found at Defence Honours and Awards Governor General Office PMC Honours and Symbols Information sourced from the DHAM. |
