Further reading The conditions for award of bravery decorations provide that the SC, or a bar to the SC, is awarded only for acts of conspicuous courage in circumstances of great peril. The lapel badge may be worn at any time with civilian dress. The integral suspension bar is inscribed ‘FOR COURAGE’. Ribbon The SC ribbon is blood-red, 32 mm wide with a central magenta band. When the ribbon is worn alone, a ribbon emblem in the form of a representation of the Star is attached at the centre of the ribbon. When the ribbon is worn alone, the award of a Bar is indicated by the addition of a further ribbon emblem. Order of Wear Is below the Star of Gallantry SG.
