Royal Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal

Further reading The Royal Naval LS&GCM was instituted on 24 August 1831 by Order in Council. Initially the medal was awarded for 21 years exemplary conduct. This was later changed to 10 years and then finally 15 years. Design The Royal Naval LS&GCM is a silver medal 36 mm in diameter. The obverse has the effigy of the Sovereign. The reverse has a depiction of a three-masted square-rigged man-of-war surrounded by a rope tied at the bottom in a reef knot and the inscription ‘FOR LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT’ around the circumference. Ribbon The ribbon of the Royal Naval LS&GCM is dark blue with white edges. When worn alone, a silver rosette is worn on the ribbon to denote the award of a clasp to the award. Clasps King George V approved the introduction of clasps to recognise additional 15 year periods of service. Order of Wear Is below the Champion Shots Medal.
