Further reading The Rhodesia Medal was issued to Commonwealth personnel who served in Rhodesia for a period of at least 14 days on Operation AGILA. This operation was to keep the peace during the ceasefire period 1 December 1979 until 20 March 1980, prior to the elections in Rhodesia before the establishment of the independent republic of Zimbabwe. Design The Rhodesia Medal is a circular rhodium-plated cupro-nickel medal 36 mm in diameter. The obverse bears the crowned bust of Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse has a sable antelope with the inscription ‘THE RHODESIA MEDAL’ and ‘1980’, the year of issue. Ribbon The Rhodesia Medal ribbon is sky-blue with thin central stripes of red, white and dark-blue. Order of Wear Is below the Australian Operational Service Medal (CIVILIAN).
