Further reading The 1914–1915 Star was authorised in 1918 and awarded to all officers, warrant officers, non-commissioned officers and men of the British, Dominion, Colonial and Indian Forces, including medical practitioners, nursing sisters, nurses and others employed with military hospitals, who actually served on the establishment of a unit in a theatre of war as defined in Appendix A of the source document between 5 August 1914 and 31 December 1915, both dates inclusive. A recipient of the 1914 Star could not also be awarded the 1914–1915 Star. Design The 1914–1915 Star is a bright bronze medal in the form of a four-pointed star, measuring 44 mm between opposite points, ensigned atop with a crown to which is attached a suspension eyelet. The obverse has crossed gladius, overlaid with an oak wreath that is ensigned with the cypher of King George V. A scroll bearing the legend ‘1914–1915’ is centrally placed across the crossed blades. Ribbon The 1914–1915 Star ribbon has a central stripe of white, flanked by two stripes, one blue and one red, all shaded and watered. The same ribbon is used for the 1914 Star and 1914–1915 Star.
