France and Germany Star

Further reading The France and Germany Star is awarded for entry into operational service on land from 6 June 1944 in France, Belgium, Holland or Germany until 8 May 1945. Design The France and Germany Star is a yellow copper zinc alloy in the form of a six-pointed star, measuring 44 mm between opposite points. The obverse has a central design of the Royal and Imperial cypher, surmounted by a crown. The cypher is surrounded by a circlet containing the words ‘THE FRANCE AND GERMANY STAR’. Ribbon The France and Germany Star ribbon has a central red stripe, flanked by two white stripes, further flanked by two blue outer stripes, all of equal width. The design represents the colours of the Union Flag, France and the Netherlands. Clasps ‘ATLANTIC’. This clasp is awarded to those who qualify for the Atlantic Star after qualifying for the France and Germany Star. When the ribbon is worn alone a silver rosette ribbon emblem is worn to denote the award of a clasp to the medal.
