In 1946, the Gloster Meteor became the first jet fighter introduced into the RAAF.
The Meteor first entered regular service in 1951. It served with distinction in the Korean War with 77 Sqn and the last sortie was flown with 75 Sqn in 1963. These aircraft were still used by the RAAF School of Technical Training as training aids in the early 1970’s when my old man went through Engine Fitter training.
