In 1946, the Gloster Meteor became the first jet fighter introduced into the RAAF.
The Meteor first entered regular service in 1951. It served with distinction in the Korean War with 77 Sqn and the last sortie was flown with 75 Sqn in 1963. These aircraft were still used by the RAAF School of Technical Training as training aids in the early 1970’s when my old man went through Engine Fitter training. The red poppy is a symbol of remembrance of those who died or suffered in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

Back in November 2022 the USS Tripoli LHA-7 was in Hobart and the crew were kind enough to invite the local ADF units onboard for a tour. Only 7 birds on board but still cool to see. Thanks very much @usstripoli
The Western Australian sunset makes a stunning background for the landing of two 9 Sqn Iroquois choppers. The Iroquois helicopter, also known as the 'Huey,' served with distinction in Vietnam, as well as in many humanitarian and United Nations missions. DPR poster from 1988
For the aviation enthusiast who likes the older models. This photo from our collection shows one of the RAAF's original Hercules 'A' Models A97-209 flying over Sydney. The 'A' Models were delivered to the RAAF between 1958 and 1959 and served with distinction until 1978 when they were replaced by the Hercules 'H' Model.
