This exceptional medal box, crafted from the rich combination of Huon Pine and Myrtle, boasts an almost ethereal white velour lining that seamlessly blends into the background. Part of our esteemed Series I collection, it is adorned with quality Brusso hinges. What makes this piece truly remarkable is the engraved 1st pattern Rising Sun Badge, commemorating service during the Boer War. It honors an officer who displayed extraordinary bravery and dedication, ultimately sacrificing his life at Mokari Drift in 1901 while serving with the 5th Queensland Imperial Bushman. He was posthumously Mentioned In Dispatches for holding his ground with a small party against fifty Boers for three heroic hours.

Introducing our first medal box with a clear lid – an innovative way to store and proudly display a distinguished set of medals. This particular box honors a remarkable soldier awarded the Military Medal during World War I for his conspicuous bravery as a stretcher-bearer. In 1917, under the relentless onslaught of heavy fire, he courageously brought in the wounded. Tragically, his heroic journey came to an end on the last day involving Australian infantry on the Western Front, as he was killed in action in Montbrehain, France, on 5 October 1918.
